Metrics and outcomes
The work
Alongside product and content design, I keep a second practice running in journalism, public policy and geopolitical research: investigative features, long-form reportage and policy analysis published in Hong Kong Free Press, the Central European Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS) and Sandpiper Communications.
The journalism covers Hong Kong society and history: oral histories, human-interest features, investigations into the city's changing identity. The policy and geopolitical work covers Northeast Asian security, political economy and ESG regulation in Asia — both of which draw on my background in economics and international public affairs.
Writing across these contexts sharpens the content design work directly. Journalism forces clarity under a hard word count. Policy writing demands precision about what you claim and what you can evidence. And a long-form feature has to hold a reader across thousands of words, which is structural thinking of exactly the kind a product flow needs. All of it feeds back into how I approach UX writing and content strategy.
